May 25 - The Holy Spirit

In the parting address of our Lord Jesus, He introduced the Holy Spirit as “another Helper” other than Jesus Himself. The Holy Spirit is also “the Spirit of truth” whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor know Him. The Holy Spirit is given to the followers of Jesus Christ because they know Him. We may know the Holy Spirit through His presence in the world and in our lives. He is going to be with us and in us. He did not just take the place of Jesus in the world but He would continue to remind us all the things that Jesus had taught.

The Father sent the Son and the Son sent the Holy Spirit into the world. To know the Father, we have to go through the Son; in the same way, to know the Son, we have to go through the Holy Spirit. When we have the Holy Spirit, we may experience the manifestation of the Father and the Son. The Father and the Son live in us through the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, no one may call Jesus “Lord” and no one may then go to the Father. The Trinity is one, you cannot take one of the Godhead and reject the other two.

The scheme of the enemy is to have us reject the person and work of the Holy Spirit by creating controversies about the theology of the Holy Spirit. When we talk about the filling of the Spirit in the churches, we all have different understanding. Some see it as something to avoid and many are afraid of the work of the Holy Spirit. The partial rejection of the Holy Spirit equals total rejection. Just like when one receives Christ as Savior, Christ has to be received completely and not partially. Syncretism is taking Jesus plus something else. No one can be saved through a partial reception of Jesus. There is no middle road in receiving the Holy Spirit also.

So if one is truly born of the Spirit, he or she should not have an unhealthy fear or phobia about the Spirit. We cannot pick and choose what we want to accept from the Word of God, either we accept or we reject. Partial obedience and partial acceptance equal disobedience and rejection. No one can accept the gift of teaching but reject the gift of tongues. If the Holy Spirit is God, then we must gladly receive everything that comes from Him.

Jesus said, “Because I live, you shall live also.” When we receive the life of God in the Spirit, we shall come to live. If we have not had the life of God, we have not started living. Without the Holy Spirit, Christ’s life is not in us. It is always from God, through Christ and by the Holy Spirit. Do you have the triune God in your life? If you have not received the Holy Spirit, open your heart and receive Him now. Accept everything taught in the bible concerning the Holy Spirit and your life will never be the same. Pray now, pray in the Spirit through the Son to the Father.
