December 12 - The Last Day Revival

Other than giving prophecies of doom and judgment, Amos also gave words of hope about the last days. God is gracious and compassionate, despite of the sins of Israel, He is going to bring up His Messianic Kingdom on earth at the right time. One can see at least three encouraging signs amid the other gloomy predictions for the last days.

The first sign of revival is the famine that God will send, not a famine of bread nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the Word of the Lord. Although the people will go all over the world, from sea to sea and from north to east, running to and fro to seek the Word of the Lord, but they shall not find it. A revival in hearing the Word of the Lord is coming, although the Jewish people go all over to try to hear it, they do not know that God has already spoken through His Son Jesus. Until the Jewish nation recognizes the Messiahship of Jesus Christ, their hunger for God’s Word will not be satisfied.

The second sign of end time revival is the restoration of the tabernacle of David that is fallen, that the breaches are repaired and its ruins be rebuilt as in the days of old. This is the coming of the Messianic Kingdom through the Son of David. There will be a revival of worship and intercession, just like the tabernacle David built for the ark of God where the priests and Levites gather to give thanks and sing praises while the sacrificial tent was at Gibeon at that time. The apostle James mentioned this revival in Acts, symbolizing the gathering in of the Gentiles into the Messianic Kingdom. Here, the tabernacle of David is to possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by God’s name.

The third sign of revival is the end time harvest of souls for Israel, a more detailed description of the second sign. During that time, the plowman shall overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes who sow the seed (of the gospel). A picture of prosperity and affluence is portrayed, with the mountains dripping sweet wine and all the hills flowing with it. The fortunes of God’s people Israel will be restored, they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will be replanted in the Holy Land with abundant provision from the Lord.

Some of the prophecies are gradually coming into focus as we begin to see movements in Israel and other nations. We have to pray all these good things into being. Let us pray for the hunger for God’s Word to increase, that many will gather in worship and intercession that many will turn to the Lord. This is the work of the end time watchmen. Are you one of them? Be a part of what God is doing in the last days.
